The e-library deployment project is an ambitious and innovative project initiated by Help Nepal Network that offers computer facilities with relevant e-contents that benefits the communities in all of the 76 districts in Nepal. It runs with the slogan “One e-library per district” and the setup runs with a low cost, low maintenance model that is best to enhance computer skills, learnings and knowledge in the users. Just after the long break due to Covid, we successfully deployed an e-library in yet another district – Dadeldhura thus getting the organization closer to its ambitious goal. The fund for the e-library project was raised under the banner of ‘Pedal For Education’ and with the generous aid from some supporting partners. With proper pre-deployment tests, facing challenges along the way, aggregating the e-library contents, we were able to successfully deploy the e-library at Dadeldhura at Ajaymeru VDC for the use by the general public in the village.
The E-library effort to provide computers and related resources to students and communities across Nepal is a low-cost, low-maintenance type that is ideal for rural Nepal. But most crucially, the Help Nepal e-Library enables recipients to take advantage of modern information and communication technology (ICT) to improve learning, develop computer skills, and close the digital gap for the first time in their lives. With this method, setting up an electronic library may be done for approximately a quarter of the price of a conventional computer lab. There is the use of free and open source software, and the computers run on a Linux platform that is safe, reliable, and low maintenance.
